Facebook. We’ve all made connections with people on Facebook, whether it be friends and family or complete strangers. Yaniv Schulman was just like us. He connected with a family on Facebook. He met up with them. It changed his life. Was it for the better? Or was it from the worst? You decide.
The movie “Catfish” was directed by Ariel Schulman and Henry Joost and came out in 2010. The movie is based off the friendship between Yaniv Schulman – a twenty four year old, living in New York – and Abby Wesselman, an eight year old girl living in Michigan. They form their friendship through art. Nev takes a picture that gets published in the paper, and Abby paints it. It creates a long lasting friendship between the two. As they grow closer, he gets to know the rest of Abby’s family pretty well too.
“Catfish” has a very interesting plot. The movie starts off by showing Nev and Abby’s friendship forming. He sends her more pictures, and she paints them. Nev then becomes friends with Abby’s mom, Angela on Facebook. He also becomes friends with Abby’s sister, Megan. Megan and Nev hit it off immediately, and they start an online relationship. Throughout their relationship, Nev notices that Megan hasn’t been honest with him a lot of the time. Outraged and hurt by her lies, Nev decides to further investigate the matter. The investigation lands them in Ishpeming, Michigan. This is where the Wesselman family lives. As they get to know the family face to face, they start to uncover more secrets. This is an example of how you can think you know someone perfectly through the internet, but are proved wrong when in a face to face setting. Don’t be fooled by someone on social media sites. You don’t know what they do outside of the internet world.
I really liked how the movie captured everything. It felt real. I felt like I was with them in the movie, going through what they were. The characters were also so intriguing. Angela was such a complex character. I didn’t know what to expect with her. I thought she was insane, but she drew me in. I didn’t want to stop watching her. Nev was a very likable guy. He was the type of guy, I wanted to know. The main thing I really liked about this movie was just that it was real. It was interesting because it was a true story. We were getting it from the source. It wasn’t a remake of the events that happened. They filmed it. They weren’t actors. They were people. That was intriguing to me.
I definitely recommend this movie to other people. I wouldn’t necessarily recommend it to kids, because there are parts that can be a bit inappropriate. Teenagers and adults would enjoy it, I think. Like “Catfish”, it’s interesting, and keeps you on your toes. You want to keep watching to find out what’s going to happen. I would look forward to coming back to class the next day to continue watching it. It has an interesting plot, intriguing characters, and a real feel to the movie. What more could you want? Check it out.

Catfish: day three
I actually really liked this movie. It was really good. I loved that it was in a documentary form. The title Catfish was actually a really good title. And it fit in with the movie. Angela is pretty crazy.. but it's cool that her and Nev are still friends. I hope that she gets help.. because.. that's pretty crazy. I'd like to do a little bit of research on it.. because it's interesting. I still feel weird that they were sexting each other. If I was Nev, I'd feel VERY uncomfortable. It would be pretty weird. Other than that.. I really liked the movie.. even though it's twisted and weird. :P

Catfish: day two.
This movie just got even more interesting. It also got very weird. I flipped out when they went to "Megan's barn". I had a lot of anxiety. Haha. It's REALLY weird that this old woman has been talking to Nev.. the way she has.. for eight months. It's awkward. The text messages that he scares with his friends were awkward too. Hahaha. But it was funny. :P This movie got really interesting.. but it's just weird. Hahah. :P

Catfish
This movie is actually really interesting. I thought it was going to be kinda boring when I heard it was a documentary. But.. it's actually pretty good. I think it's interesting to have a pen pal.. but this is kinda creepy. They lied to him about a bunch of stuff. That's shady. I don't know what's going to happen when they get to their house.. but I hope it's something good. I hope that they ARE lying. I think that would be a lot more interesting to watch. :) Nev is interesting. I like him. His chest hair is crazy though. But.. he's a pretty interesting person. Angela is kinda weird. She kinda creeps me out with her "sexy" pictures. And.. Megan is kinda odd too. I don't know if I honestly believe Abby exists. She might. Who knows. But.. I don't think she does. I'm really excited to see the next part of it. I was like rawr when Mr. Krebs turned it off. :( Haha. Oh well. I'm just really excited to see the next part. The paintings are really good though. And.. the whole part about the studio.. not being occupied for four years.. after Angela told Nev that they bought that for Abby.. to have as her studio..... that's SHADY. I don't really know what's going to happen. Hmmm.. I don't know. All I know is I'm excited to finish it! I'm kinda glad we watched this over "The Social Network" movie.

Mobile phones!
Pros and Cons of Mobile Phones
Technology has changed a lot during the years. Cell phones have taken over the world. There is no need to have a landline or a computer anymore. Why bother? You can have a cell phone with all of that on it! Phones like the iPhone, Blackberry and Droid are just a few examples of these phones. They come with internet, apps, games, text messaging and many other things! These phones are fun and convenient but they also have negative impacts on your life too.
There are many pros about mobile phones. For example, they make life a lot easier. You are connected to people in a quicker and more efficient way. Text messaging allows constant conversation wherever you are. If you need to send a quick thought to someone, a text is an easy way to go. Another huge reason on why cell phones are so important and beneficial in your life is it’s easy to contact people. If your car stalls on the side of the road, you can call a tow or a family member to help you out. There have been multiple stories on how cell phones have saved someone’s life. It is also useful for times when you don’t have a camera handy. Most phones come with a camera. Some phones have GPS on them. If you’re lost, you can find your way by just clicking a button. Even though cell phones make life a lot simpler, they have some negative qualities as well.
Negative things are easy to spot in a mobile phone too. The obvious one is texting while driving. When you’re driving, you need to have your attention on the road 24/7. You can’t take your eyes off the road. If you get a text message while driving, it’s almost impossible to resist looking at it. A lot of people take the bait and look at the text. Some even text back. 25% of all car accidents in the United States are caused by texting and driving. Also, 13% of teenagers have admitted that have texted and drove at one point. Another way cell phones are bad for you is that you can lose sight of reality. If you’re so caught up in your phone, you might not go out as much as you would if you didn’t have a phone. So many people are dependent on their phone, especially teenagers. It’s almost impossible to find a teenager without a cell phone now. Between the games, the apps, the text messaging and everything else available on mobile phones.,. it’s easy to become anti-social. So many teenagers become so addicted to their phones that they might actually stop caring about homework, family and other things that were once important to them. It is also a distraction in classes. So many teenagers text during class and that distracts them from their learning. So you see, when there is a positive side of something, there is always a negative as well.
Cell phones are a huge part of our daily lives. And though they are fun to use and at most times, a lot more convenient.. They also have their cons. In my opinion, I believe the pros outweigh the cons. Even though, they are dangerous while driving, they can also be something that saves your life after an accident. They may steal you away from reality, but they also keep you connected with people. They might distract you from your homework, but they can also help you with your homework. And finally, they may distract you from learning, but you can always learn from them. All in all, I think that cell phones are a good thing, and they should be embraced.
